well it did remind me of specifically a grand am when in thumbnail size. That's what I was getting at. Probably because I live/grew up in michigan, and that car is embedded in my brain.

Which, in this community is, I believe the correct response. We like our planes old (B-52, DC-3, SR-71, etc), our cars old, hell, we prefer everything old except our internet connections. =P

Biased from a decade of loving Ezra Dyer? I suppose I could be.

Ezra goes in for humor, with insight, rather than the other way round. There are a ton of automotive writers who cut to the quick in terms of performance, Ezra is one of the few who tries to relate his experiences back to what he enjoys.

He's not for everyone, but then again, neither was (is) Brock Yates.

Ahh yes, if it only it HAD been a few hundred pounds lighter.

M235i = 3,505

335is Coupe = 3,572

1M = 3,296

Model bloat is seemingly inevitable in this day and age, also, it has a larger footprint which accounts for some of the weight increase (but not all).

I think that the ideal would be the 1M's engine in the 2 series body.

Actually, I suppose the ideal would be a re-imagination of the 3.0 CS with the underpinings of the 1M and M235i... as long as I'm dreaming.

I wouldn't be so sure about that any more. It used to be an absolute certainty, but now it seems that about half of new models released are lighter than the outgoing one.

At least this was the case when manufacturers first started using lightweight materials. Not sure whether it's survived into the next generation though.

And the options line up perfectly.. you can get the M235i with heated seats, a manual, the good stereo and That's it! (Also the M Sport Pack, if inclined). No shoehorning in other things you don't use!

And Estoril Blue... a man can dream...
